livid about plus sizes.

It was mid September 2016.

A professor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising asked students to find and share an current event about the fashion industry.

An article in the Washington post, "Designers refuse to make clothes to fit American women. It's a disgrace,", caught the attention of then student, Jim Lee. Written by design educator, author, and Emmy-winning co-host of 'Project Runway', Tim Gunn, the article highlighted how the American fashion industry turned its back on plus sized women.

"Far more women in this country wear a size 16 than a size 6, but the industry seems not to have noticed," stated Tim Gunn. However, many designers/merchandisers were simply ignoring the plus size market even though the average American woman wore between a size 16 and 18 (Washington State University)

Jim, having grown up as a self-proclaimed “husky” or “big-boned” kid, knew what kind of psychological scars curvy people held onto. The lack of plus size clothes made him livid. From his personal experience he knew that fashion was an easy tool to boost anyone’s confidence.

Luckily, more retailers have emerged to tackle the lack of curvy clothes. Nearly every Target we stop by has a more size inclusive mannequin, something that would have been hard to find a couple years ago.

While we've come a long way, there is still a ways to go.

Through L I V D (pronounced livid), we hope to provide curvy women of all ages an affordable line of clothes

Clothes that don't feel like they were second thoughts.

Clothes catered to curves.
